General Information about Bangkok:<\/h2>\n

Bangkok is (literally translated as “village in the plum grove”) named among Thais as Krung Thep. This is usually translated as “City of Angels”.
\nThe capital of Thailand is by far the largest in the country and is alone in the city area more than 8 million inhabitants. In the entire metropolitan area, there are approximately 14.5 million. Bangkok is the political, cultural and economic center of Thailand and also the most important transport hub in the country. The location on the Chao Phraya River and the fact that previously a major part of life in the small channels, the so-called Khlongs took place, the city brought the nickname “Venice of the East” one.<\/p>\n

Getting there:<\/h2>\n

International visitors from around the world usually meet on the
\nSuvarnabhumi International Airport. This is located about 30 kilometers east of the city center and offers excellent connections for domestic flights as well as the whole Asian region.<\/p>\n

Also quite a few tour buses have a stop in\u00a0Bangkok as a hub. Moreover, Bangkok can be reached by train. The Hua Lamphong railway station is a junction in the rail network of the Thai State Railway.<\/p>\n
