Scooter rental Thailand: Who really wants to move freely in Thailand, comes to a private vehicle probably hardly around. Scooters can be rented for low prices in Thailand and promise a lot of fun. Nevertheless, there are a lot of things which you should observe if you are renting a scooter in Thailand!

Scooter rental Thailand – Unlimited freedom

Scooter rental Thailand – The Benefits

The biggest advantage is the independence. Only your own vehicle, allows to explore the area properly and just pause and enjoy the scenery. Moreover, the prices are extremely low. Expensive taxi fares can be omitted so. Not to despise is fun, it makes the scooter on small coastal roads in Thailand to curves and enjoy the vegetation and landscape. Whether you’re looking you want to rent on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Phuket your own scooter, here are important information that you should always observe.

Scooter rental Thailand – What is it observed?

    Prices:

Scooters can be rented on the day partly from just 100 Baht. On the islands it is a bit more expensive. For high season but it should be even on Koh Samui not more expensive than 200 baht. Obviously, prices vary depending on the equipment and motorization. The standard 120cc range should be really enough, unless the vehicle is in good condition.
    Insurance:

In most cases, the mopeds are awarded without insurance. All damages must be paid by yourself! Apparently, however, it should be possible to get a insurance for a nominal fee. This, however please check for yourself.

! At a total loss tenants are often taken up to 60,000 baht in liability! Make sure that this does not happen to you. A good used replacement scooter there is for 20,000 Baht.

Koh Phangan, Thailand: Traumhafte Straße nahe der Küste. Hier macht das Fahren Spaß.

    Deposit:

Most renter require the passport as a deposit. Whether you want to deposit your passport or not, everyone has to decide for themselves. If the scooter is rented directly at the hotel this is probably less problematic. Unscrupulous renters I would not leave the pass. Often the renter agrees to a deposit in the amount of Baht 5,000 + deposit of the identification card. This should be a good compromise.

On the other hand, however, one must also understand the renter. It often happened that completely destroyed vehicles were left behind and those responsible were simply gone. The renter then remained on his damage.

    Lease:

The leases are in English. With a reputable supplier the damages are recorded on a form. Moreover, it is not a mistake to make pictures of the damages in advance and store them as evidence.
Check the vehicle on the technical condition and don’t forget it in any case, the suspension and brakes! The rims should be checked also. The bad roads damage the scooters highly!

    Driver’s license:

It is advisable to carry an International Driving Permit. No one wanted to see this till today. Often most Thais as well as the police accept a national driver’s license (if it is ever required). Still, who wants to go 100 percent legal, must carry a valid international driver’s license with you.

    Repairs:

In the case of equipment failure or a flat tire, it is advisable to repair itself always. This usually saves trouble with your renter and is really not expensive. A flat tire cost around 150 baht, the repair of the variator 300 baht. Repairs can be made as good as anywhere in small workshops. Pay attention to the fact that the scooter is on return in good condition and very clean. Many landlords do not like to see if the vehicles are moved on gravel roads and beaches. In part, this is forbidden even in the leases and has a penalty result.

If the lender asks you hypocritical whether you also was on the beach, simply deny …

Expertenwerkstatt: Nicht abschrecken lassen! Die Jungs haben es wirklich drauf und reparieren jeden Schaden umgehend und zu super Preisen.

    Refueling:

There are many small shops that offer gasoline in bottles. These can be bought without hesitation, but the prices are slightly higher. In remote areas or in the backcountry, this is often the only way to get gasoline. Otherwise it is advisable to refuel at the large gasoline retailers. The price here is much cheaper in comparison.

Tankstelle mal anders: Benzin in Flaschen ist oft die einzige Möglichkeit aufzutanken.

    Parking:

At many attractions and Viewpoints a parking fee of 10 baht is charged. For what or why I is not always apparent. Nevertheless, just pay. 10 Baht doesn’t really hurt. After all, you have the good feeling of security that the scooter is kept in mind and not get lost;-)

Koh Phangan, Thailand: Parken an Sehenswürdigkeiten kostet oft eine Pauschale von 10 Baht.

Driving Safety – Scooter rental Thailand

The roads in Thailand are sometimes extremely bumpy. It must always be driven with the highest concentration in order to avoid large potholes etc. The traffic is hell and it gets little to no respect. On smaller islands and in remote areas, where there is hardly any traffic, driving, however, is a delight.

Of drunk driving is generally discouraged! Even when sober senses are challenged to 100 percent in order to reach your destination safely.

Also getting used to driving on the left is not to be underestimated. After a few kilometers, but this is almost negligible.
